Mike Kelly
Rehabilitation Assistant & Exercise Therapist BA (Hons) Dip.PT

Mike is a fully qualified and insured Sports and Exercise Therapist. After graduating from university with a Sports Science Degree in 2002 he completed a diploma in Personal Training and Sports Therapy. Since then he has worked in the health and fitness industry as a sports therapist and personal trainer for more than sixteen years, specialising in rehabilitation. Mike joined the Plymouth Neurophysio team as a Rehabilitation Assistant & Exercise Therapist in 2019.

 

Working within his role as an exercise therapist gives him great satisfaction as he can help people improve their lives. He has a passion for sport and fitness and finds it extremely rewarding passing on knowledge to others in order to help them achieve their goals.

 

Focusing on rehabilitation and return to function, Mike has worked with a wide range of client populations including neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Dementia and Cardiovascular disease. He works with clients of all abilities to devise exercise programmes tailored to their specific needs. This includes working on range of movement, strength exercises, walking or mobility practice and working on functional ‘day-to day’ tasks to enable people to live as independently as possible. Mike has a strong ability to build a rapport with his clients which in turn helps to increase their confidence and subsequently improve their progress.

Outside of work, Mike’s main interests lie in fitness training, specifically endurance events. He has completed the London marathon in 2004 and 2007 and the London Olympic distance triathlon in 2006 and has taken part in numerous distance races over the years. His first-hand experience of injury sustained through sport has given him a valuable insight into how to best treat a wide range of conditions.
