Associate Neurological Physiotherapist

Katya graduated from the University of Brighton in 2001 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and went on to complete her basic rotations where she developed a keen interest in Neurological Physiotherapy.

 

Katya joined the Plymouth Neurophysio team as an Associate Physio in 2012. Having worked previously for a Charitable Trust with children and adults with complex disability in a variety of settings and with various neurological presentations including cerebral palsy, stroke and Acquired Brain Injury. Her previous work includes working as part of a rapid response team and with SCOPE. Her experiences taught her to appreciate how important it was for individuals and families to have access to the right information, key professionals and equipment to manage their day-to-day activities and so move forward with their lives.

 

Since graduating, Katya has undergone training in areas of complex disability and neurological physiotherapy, which include Bobath Concept, Hydrotherapy, Rebound therapy, Spasticity management, Splinting and Respiratory care. Having completed her post graduate certificate in Postural Management, Katya has been keenly involved in seating clinics and equipment provision and works closely with Orthopaedic consultants. This enables her to offer a comprehensive assessment on an individual basis and allows her to provide treatment, advice and information to help each individual achieve their goals.

 

Katya has considerable experience in writing clinical reports and referrals, comprehensive assessments and has worked within the educational field including tribunal assessments and reporting and Special Educational Needs reports. Katya has always believed in providing the best opportunities for children and adults recovering from injury or illness and has a dedication to providing a unified service, ensuring a holistic approach to each individual.
