Associate Neurological Physiotherapist
Jo has a solid, well established background in specialist principles of Neurological Physiotherapy. She joined the Plymouth Neurophysio team as an Associate Physio in 2014.
Jo graduated from The University of Northumbria, Newcastle with a first class honours degree in Physiotherapy in 1998 and since then has worked in acute, community and special school settings. Jo is a Bobath trained therapist who has a keen interest in complex neurological disability and holistic postural management for children and adults. Jo is trained in hydrotherapy, rebound therapy and has experience in equipment provision including specialist seating, standing frames, walkers and sleep systems.
Jo has always been very interested in the influence of 24-hour postural management in conjunction with treatment and equipment provision. Jo is a member of the APCP (Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists). In addition to land-based session Jo enjoys using the hydrotherapy pool to enhance functional ability and progress rehabilitation.
Jo has worked in special school settings such as Dame Hannah Rogers School and Woodlands School and she focused on postural and wheelchair assessments within The Disablement Services Centre in Plymouth. She has also worked in a Child Development Centre where she provided physiotherapy to children and young adults with often complex functional, postural and mobility needs.
Jo believes that it is important for everyone to be able to reach their full potential and have some fun along their journey.
