Christina Sayers BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy HCPC MCSP
Associate Neurological Physiotherapist
Christina graduated from Plymouth University in 2018 with a first-class honours degree in physiotherapy. She joined the Plymouth Neurophysio team as an Associate Physio in 2019.
Charlotte has had experience in assessments and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, stroke rehabilitation, community setting, cardiothoracics, and trauma and fracture wards throughout her degree and took a special interest in neurological conditions from the moment she completed university.
She currently works in a charity that supports complex long-term neurological conditions and learning disabilities, including cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, autism, and many other rare syndromes. She works specifically on 24-hour postural management; including sleep systems, respiratory care (such as suctioning, cough assist devices, and manual chest physio techniques), hydrotherapy, rebound therapy, sensory swing, wheelchair assessments, equipment provision (such as standing frames and walkers), tone and muscle contracture management, and palliative care. Her experience lies with both adults and children, striving to seek the best care for the individual to meet their personal goals and help to increase or maintain their independence and quality of life.
Christina undertakes comprehensive assessments, reports, plans for carers and families, and risk assessments frequently. She works very closely with the wider multidisciplinary team including parents, nurses, teachers, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and carers, helping to train and support them as fully as possible.
Christina’s ambitions are to continue to specialise in neurological conditions and aims to undertake a master’s degree in neurology in the near future.
