Associate Neurological Physiotherapist
Ashleigh qualified as a Physiotherapist from Plymouth University in 2008. Since this time she has worked at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (Derriford Hospital). There she completed her Junior rotations gaining knowledge in all aspects of Physiotherapy including orthopaedics, womens health, musculoskeletal, hydrotherapy and respiratory among others. During her rotations she realised where her passion lied and specialised in Neurosurgical Physiotherapy at the South West neurosurgical centre at Derriford. Working in this role for 7 years she has gained experience in a wide range of conditions including Traumatic brain injury, multi-trauma, neuro-oncology, stoke and spinal cord injuries (SCI). Ashleigh joined the Plymouth Neurophysio team as an Associate Physio in 2019.
Ashleigh has completed training in vestibular rehabilitation and alongside this the management of facial palsy in similar patient groups. She is trained in tracheostomy care, complex respiratory management and immediate life support. With a specific interest in the management of SCI’s Ashleigh has attend lots of training with the specialist SCI centres, including bladder and bowel management and is competent with use of cervical collars and spinal bracing. Also a member of ACPIN she is passionate about developing her learning and remaining current with her evidence based knowledge.
As a local Plymouth girl with a love of the South West, Ashleigh is a motivated and inspired physiotherapist who is always looking for new and interesting ways to challenge, progress and develop herself and her patients. She is holistic and patient centred and aims to get the best goal orientated outcomes for patients in her care.
