Associate Neurological Physiotherapist
Angela qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist after achieving an MSc in Physiotherapy at Southampton University, having completed a BSc in Biological Sciences and an MSc in Biological Research Methods at Exeter University. Angela specialises in neurological physiotherapy and has been working as an Associate at Plymouth Neurophysio alongside her NHS work since 2015.
After graduating as a physio in 2007, she completed her junior rotations at Poole General Hospital and began specialising in neurology there, treating people who had suffered stroke and head injury, moving on to work for three years at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre in Salisbury with people with Spinal Cord Injuries. Here she became trained in hydrotherapy, functional electrical stimulation and acupuncture and developed an interest in the management of pain, focusing on nerve pain produced after neurological injuries. Following this Angela transferred into neurosurgery at North Bristol Trust before moving to Devon in early 2015. She loves working as a physiotherapist and finds it very rewarding.
In her spare time Angela loves being outdoors, and regularly goes white water kayaking and sailing as well as climbing on Dartmoor and Wales. More recently she has started mountaineering and has combined all these sports with numerous travelling trips to Europe, Nepal and South America.
